Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, chaired today the third meeting of the Steering Committee of the Integrated Support for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Socotra Archipelago project, which is being implemented by the Royal Jordanian Society for the Conservation of Nature.

The meeting, which was attended by the Governor of Socotra, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Jordanian Society for the Conservation of Nature, Engineer Khaled Al-Irani, and the representative of the Global Environment Facility in Switzerland, Arsen Essen, discussed the activities and programs implemented in the four components of the project and evaluated the level of performance and achievement on an annual basis.

The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen the partnership between the Public Authority for Environmental Protection and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, in a way that contributes to the protection of biodiversity and the exchange of experiences in the field of integrated management of natural reserves.
