Riyadh - Saba
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, discussed with the US Ambassador to our country, Steven Fagin, the developments in the situation in Yemen, and the future of the peace process in light of the continued intransigence of the terrorist Houthi militia, its dangerous escalation, and its targeting of economic facilities.
Bin Mubarak warned of the repercussions of the continued Houthi terrorist attacks on the economic and living conditions of the Yemeni people..stressing the need to take serious steps to deter this terrorist group from its continuous and systematic targeting of infrastructure and civil and commercial facilities..praising the American efforts in controlling and intercepting arms shipments by the regime.
Iran smuggled these militias in an effort to threaten the safety of shipping lanes and international trade and spread chaos in the region.
For his part, the US ambassador affirmed his country's position in support of the efforts made by the UN envoy to achieve peace in Yemen, reiterating his country's support for the Presidential Leadership Council, and for the security, unity and stability of Yemen.
