The Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Humaid, discussed today, in the interim capital, Aden, with the United Nations Resident Representative in Yemen technical and logistical measures to address the problem of the Safer oil tanker.
The meeting discussed the United Nations plan of action to mobilize financial resources to finance the unloading and transportation of crude oil in the tanker.
The Minister of Transport stressed the need for rapid action to avoid any possible environmental consequences from the decaying tanker anchored in the Ras Issa area, explaining the importance of coordination between the international team and the national committee concerned with dealing with the status of the tanker to discuss the technical arrangements for the plan.
