PM discusses with representatives of UN agencies their performance
[16/11/2022 06:50]
ADEN-SABA
Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik presided over Wednesday a meeting for directors and representatives of UN agencies in Yemen discussing with them issues related to humanitarian and relief work and coordination between the government and them for facilitating their work and tackling challenges they face.

The meeting reviewed practical measures made by the government to ensure that the humanitarian work in Houthi-held areas is not impacted by the decision of designating Houthi militia a terrorist organization.

Prime Minister made it clear that the terrorist attacks by Houthi terrorist militia on ports of exporting oil exceeded all redlines and hindered humanitarian and peace efforts in Yemen.

He pointed out that international silence on obstacles and Houthi terrorist militia's aggressions before humanitarian work and efforts of the international organizations in their areas enabled the terrorist militia to use the humanitarian file as a card for political blackmailing.

He confirmed significance of taking strong position by the United Nations against any Houthi blackmail and practices to deviate the relief work away of its track to finance its war against Yemeni people and threaten regional and international security.
" Designating Houthi militia, a terrorist group came as a natural result for its practices and there will be deterring measures for implementing this decision," said Prime Minister Abdulmalik.

" The government is keen on limiting these measures on individuals and entities which committed crimes and violations against Yemenis and their abilities and is also keen the decision will not affect citizens and private sector or humanitarian and relief work," he said.

He praised improving cooperation and partnership between the government and UN agencies, stressing importance of improving this partnership into clear programs and policies for easing relief and humanitarian work in Yemen.

For their part, the representatives and directors of UN agencies reviewed efforts of their organizations in different Yemeni areas in different health, learning and water domains and other projects.

They praised support by the government to relief and humanitarian organization and solving many challenges facing the UN work in Yemen.

They confirmed keenness on improving their work in the framework of priorities to be agreed upon with the government.
