A delegation from the Parliament participated in the parliamentary meeting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27), which is organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in partnership with the Egyptian House of Representatives in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The meeting listened to the report of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the climate agreement and the parliamentary laws and legislation needed to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
The participants exchanged discussions on the dimensions of the phenomenon of climate change, the negative effects of sustainable development, strengthening the basic links between it and climate action, and how parliaments can support sustainable development that is capable of adapting to the climate, seeking to reach realistic radical solutions to reduce this phenomenon, and directing to a total and urgent reduction of all greenhouse gas emissions by 1.5°C to achieve sustainability, as well as focusing on development challenges related to food security, displacement, conflicts, weak states, energy and their relationship to climate change,
