Taiz governor discusses with OCHA transferring into developmental programs

Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan discussed Tuesday here with the Office of Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs or (OCHA) needs associated with basic services and transferring from emergency programs into interventions of developmental and economic dimensions and alleviating suffering of Taizi people.

Shamsan pointed out to big population in Taiz and suffering of the people over closed roads and lack of electricity, water and infrastructure projects, confirming contribution of the organization on making swift solutions to alleviate suffering of the people in the province over Houthi terrorist militia's siege on the city for eight years.

Governor Shamsan renewed keenness of the local authority on providing all facilitations to international organizations, calling OCHA to open office in Taiz like other organizations.

For his part, UN Deputy Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs Diego Zorella thanked the local authority of Taiz for big efforts to alleviate suffering of the citizens in the province, confirming that the organization is about to make field visit to Taiz to discuss the province's plan for 2022-2024 and defining necessary needs, in addition to opening an office for the organization soon.

For her part, the Advisor of the UN Resident Representative for Economic and Development Affairs Christien Jonson confirmed significance of plan for economic project, noting that Taiz Province has many economic chances to be focused on during the forthcoming period.

Meanwhile, Director of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation's Office in Taiz Nabil Jamel presented the province's plan for regaining economic recovery for 2022-2024.
