The Supreme Judicial Council held its periodic meeting today, in the interim capital, Aden, headed by the council’s president, Judge Mohsen Yahya Talib, to discuss a number of topics on its agenda and took a number of decisions aimed at strengthening the role of the judiciary in achieving justice and law enforcement.
Judge Mohsen Taleb briefed the council members on the results of his meeting in the presence of the President of the Supreme Court of the Republic, Judge Dr. Ali Al-Awash, with the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and his efforts to support and follow up the activity of the judiciary and enhance its role in laying the foundations of order and law and protecting rights and freedoms.
The Council approved the draft budget of the judiciary for the next year 2023 AD as a single number to be included in the state’s general budget in accordance with the constitutional and legal provisions.
The Council approved the requests submitted by some judges to refer them to retirement due to their health conditions.
The Council also lifted the immunity of a member of the judiciary based on the request submitted by the Public Prosecutor of the Republic.
