Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Consultative Committee for Social Protection holds its 11 meeting

The Consultative Committee for Social Protection held its 11 meeting under the chairmanship of Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the Head of the Committee Mohammad al-Zaori.

In the meeting attended by representatives of a number of ministries, organizations and Civil Society Organization, al-Zaori confirmed significance of the meeting as it comes after changes followed the issuance of the first Decree of the National Defense Council, which designated Houthi militia a terrorist group, stressing importance of work in accordance with the matrix of measures followed the decree.

The meeting discussed topics included in its agenda and reviewed the national report for salaries policy.

The meeting aimed at reviewing results of the evaluation made by the national team under challenges of lower salaries in public and private sectors as they do not fit the increasing costs of livelihood and widening poverty gap in the country.

The meeting also discussed standards of choosing local organizations for participation in implementing the projects provided by the UN High Commission for Refugees.

The meeting stressed necessity of implementing new mechanism to include foundations that have licenses from concerned provinces while implementing projects in their areas.

The meeting also reviewed plans, programs and projects of the Executive Unit for Displace Persons and the protection plan provided by the Officer of Protection Program in the Unit Dr. Suad, who reviewed swift activities and interventions and humanitarian projects in the displacement areas.

The 11 meeting of the consultative meeting recommended Council of Ministers to restructure the Executive Unit of Displaced Person Affairs in accordance with effective laws in the country to enhance monitoring role on activities of the unit under the supervisory of the ministry of social affairs.
