Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'id Badhib held talks today, Saturday, here with the Regional Director of the World Bank (WB) for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti Marina Wyse.

The discussions which held within annual meetings between the Yemeni government and the World Bank (WB) Group concentrated on topics pertaining to infrastructure and food security plans and projects.

Badhib sought for greater role by the WB in sustaining the survival of basic infrastructure and food security projects.
He provided an informative presentation about the economic hardships Yemen has been struggling with, noting that the Yemen's national economy has experienced an unprecedented contraction over the recent six year since Iran-backed Houthi militias' coup in 2014.

He indicated that food insecurity rates have climbed up to 60%, causing wide-scale acute malnutrition, while the humanitarian crisis has widened to hit 80% of the population, with 4.3 million IDPs have been living in camps are lacking the very basic services, food and medicines.
