The official spokesman for the Arab coalition, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, said, "The exchange of visits by two delegations from the coalition and the Houthis to visit the prisoners on both sides as a goodwill initiative, and as part of confidence-building efforts to extend the truce in Yemen.
He added, in a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), "This comes in addition to what was previously announced by the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition regarding the prisoners' negotiations in Amman under the supervision of the United Nations.
" Brigadier General Al-Maliki stressed that this visit of a humanitarian nature is concerned with the prisoners’ file as a purely humanitarian case, as it comes as one of the acquires of the truce and seeks to extend it and expand its gains on the lives of Yemenis in terms of humanitarian, economic and living aspects, to start the political process and reach a comprehensive peace in Yemen.
The file of prisoners receives special care and attention from the coalition leadership, and all efforts will continue to be made to return all prisoners of war from both sides, and to end this file.
