Deputy Governor of Marib governorate Dr. Abd-Rabbu Miftah has called on the United Nations (UN) to increase its agencies' role in different fields in Marib to respond to the increasingly growing needs of the IDPs whose live in 194 camps in different regions of the governorate.
He stated that greater interventions and efforts by the UN's organizations is urgently needed to cope with pressing and increasingly growing basic needs of the IDPs in the governorate.
" The gap is widening between humanitarian and relief interventions and the growing needs of the IDPs who have continued to arrive in Marib on daily basis", said Miftah.
He launched his appeal during his meeting today, Sunday, here in Marib city, with the UN's visiting team headed by Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Coordinator for Relief Emergency Joyce Msuya.
Ms. Msuya who arrived in Marib for the first time stated that her visit aimed to get first- hand information about humanitarian situation, hold discussions with local authority and partners in order to boost humanitarian actions in the governorate.
