Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq Asharjabi highlighted Yemen's need for greater interventions by the World Bank (WB) in water and environment sectors to improve the management of water resources, infrastructure and services.
He made his statement during a virtual discussions he held today with the WB's Country Director in Yemen Tania Mayer.
The conversations covered topics about the ongoing collaboration between the Yemeni government and WB in the two sectors of water and environment in order to improve basic services.
The Minister touched upon the issues pertaining to water security as part and parcel of the food security, underscoring the need for establishing platform to secure necessary resources to finance water security with the WB taking the lead in this regard.
The WB's Country Director in Yemen has confirmed the WB's continuous support for both water and environment sectors.
