Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, participated today in the side event of the India-United Nations Partnership, which was convened by the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Subramnyam Shankar, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's independence.

In his speech at the meeting, Bin Mubarak spoke about the causes of food insecurity in Yemen, which are related to several factors, foremost of which is the war waged by the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people, the deterioration of the national currency, the recent geopolitical wars, the corona pandemic, and the decline in foreign transfers.

He pointed out that there are many basic factors that have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Houthi militia-controlled areas in particular, including the Houthi restrictions imposed on humanitarian access, which deprive the most vulnerable groups of receiving life-saving assistance, especially since the Houthis have a terrible record in preventing relief agencies from reaching civilians in need, and the practice of diverting an important part of the aid to Houthi officials, their supporters, and their fighters.
