RIYADH - SABA
Parliament Speaker Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani discussed Monday with the Head of the European Union Commission Gabriel Muneera Vinales issues associated with realizing peace in Yemen and latest developments in the country.
He touched upon Houthi militia's blatant attack on Taiz to block the sole road linking the city with Aden, confirming significance of opening roads and ports to Yemeni people.
He pointed out that Houthi militia is not serious in lifting its siege on Taiz, saying while efforts are being exerted for tightening the UN Truce and opening roads to Taiz City, Houthi militia repeatedly confirmed its negligence to the truce and does not respect its pledges and commitments.
He stressed importance of taking firm position by the International Community towards Houthi militia stubbornness and its rejection to peace efforts and consistence on violating the truce.
For his part, the European Diplomat confirmed continuous support of the European Union to peace efforts, expressing his rejection to bloodshed in Yemen and committing violations to truces.
He confirmed his support to continuity of the truce and opening roads, including roads to Taiz city and also confirmed support to the Presidential Leadership Council under President al-Alimi and to Yemen's unity, sovereignty and stability.
