Minister of Transportation Abdulsalam Humaid discussed Monday with Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Yemen Nahed Hussein and Director of the Program in Aden Kinodi Naghdooth implemented procedures for establishing a fund for ensuring reduction of maritime insurance installments on ships coming to Yemeni ports over the war.

The meeting discussed also efforts exerted by the program in cooperation with alliance of insurances companies, which previously agreed on these preparations from humanitarian perspective which requires making commercial deal to reduce insurance installments and regaining them into their order before the war erupted in 2015.

The meeting also discussed means of using Japanese donation for supporting Aden Port, which is estimated at USD 3.5 million, in addition to reviewing other transport projects will be provided by UNDP.

Minister Humaid praised the program for its assistances provided to marine transportation sector, which included installing controlling station system for controlling ships in Aden and two winches to Mukalla Port.

He demanded representatives of the program to activate the allocated support of promoting capabilities of Aden and Mukalla ports, which is estimated at USD 50 million, in the light of evaluating port needs by experts from Dutch Ports.
