Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badheeb, discussed with the Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen, Sajjad Sajid, strengthening the activities of international organizations and humanitarian response plans in Yemen.
The meeting, with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Planning, Dr. Nizar Basheeb, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for the Projects Sector, the engineer, Minister Al-Sharmani, and a number of stakeholders in the ministry and the UN office, touched on the humanitarian, living and service conditions in light of the current difficult conditions as a result of the war in the country, the file of the humanitarian truce and peace efforts, and the effects of floods and torrents in a number of governorates of the republic, specifically the governorates of Marib, Al-Jawf, Lahj, Al-Mahra and Hadramout, and the requirements to mitigate their consequences.
Minister Badheeb stressed the importance of OCHA’s efforts and roles in coordinating with international organizations as they are partners to the government in contributing to alleviating the impact of war and limiting the aggravation of the suffering of citizens in various aspects and humanitarian, relief and development fields.
