A number of countries welcomed the extension of the truce in Yemen for two additional months, according to the previous clauses, until October 2, 2022, which came after consultation with and approval of the government.

The Arab League welcomed the announcement issued by the United Nations to renew the armistice in Yemen for two additional months, with the same conditions as the previous armistice, until the second of next October.

The Arab League said in a statement, "The armistice allows work to alleviate the difficult humanitarian conditions that Yemenis are suffering from throughout the country, and opens the way for the start of a serious political process to end the crisis."

The statement added that "the Yemeni people have suffered for years from war and a severe humanitarian crisis, and the renewal of the truce represents good news for millions of Yemenis," noting the importance of adhering to the terms of the truce in the next stage and the need to strengthen the work of the UN envoy in reaching an expanded and sustainable armistice agreement.

He stressed that the continuation of the truce gives the required impetus to the political process and the continuation of negotiations as the only way to address the Yemeni crisis in a comprehensive manner, in preparation for bringing peace to this country whose people have suffered greatly.

The European Union also welcomed the decision to extend the armistice in Yemen for two additional months.

In a statement, European External Action Service spokesman Peter Stano said that the armistice has tangible benefits highlighting the importance of opening the crossings in Taiz and the governorates as a priority in this regard.

The Union indicated that it will continue to work with all parties in Yemen, with the full support of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, to reach a political settlement of the crisis in Yemen.

The Arab Parliament welcomed the extension of the armistice for two additional months, according to the previous clauses, until the second of next October, which came after consultation with and approval of the Yemeni government.

In a statement, the parliament indicated that the decision includes a commitment from all parties to intensify negotiations to reach an expanded armistice agreement as soon as possible.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also welcomed the extension of the armistice, stressing the importance of opening the humanitarian crossings in Taiz.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry also welcomed the agreement.

The Ministry's spokesperson, Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Ful, affirmed Jordan's support for efforts to end the Yemeni crisis through a political solution based on the approved references of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue, and Security Council Resolution No. (2216), which leads to ending the crisis in Yemen achieving security and stability in a manner that guarantees Yemen’s unity, stability and territorial integrity, alleviates the suffering of its people and fulfills its aspirations for security and peace.

For its part, the United States welcomed the extension of the armistice in Yemen for an additional two months, according to what the envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, Hans Grundenberg, announced earlier today, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s welcome of the extension, according to the terms of the basic agreement that entered into force four months ago.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for international efforts aimed at ending the war.
