Aden – Saba
The Yemeni government welcomed the joint statement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America issued at the conclusion of the high-level meetings and discussions that brought together, on Friday, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with US President Joseph Biden and senior officials in his administration.
The government praised the firm position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, their keenness to establish peace and stability in Yemen, and the importance of obligating the Houthis to implement the provisions of the existing truce agreement.
The government indicated in a statement today that it shares, with President Biden, a great appreciation for the role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, for their ongoing efforts and initiatives to bring peace to Yemen in order to reach the existing truce in the country, with an emphasis on obligating the Houthi militias to implement the terms of the truce in accordance with the UN Declaration, and to open the main roads leading to Taiz and the roads of other governorates.
In this context, the government welcomed the call of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to the international community to take a unified position demanding the Houthis return to peace talks under the auspices of the United Nations, based on the three references, including Security Council Resolution 2216 issued in 2015.
The government highly valued the two countries' affirmation of their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council, noting its role and commitment to the truce, and the steps that contributed to improving the lives of Yemenis throughout the country.
