Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abd Rabbo Miftah discussed with the head of the International Organization for Migration mission in Yemen the humanitarian and living situation of the IDPs in the governorate and the need to increase the volume of support and intervention in various fields.

During the meeting Miftah indicated that the suffering of the displaced still represents the greatest concern for the local authority, due to the low level of organizations’ intervention and the widening of the humanitarian gap, which requires strengthening cooperation and coordination between humanitarian partners in the governorate to meet the most basic needs of the displaced and the host communities in terms of shelter, food, water, health and sanitation., praising the organization’s efforts in responding to the humanitarian needs of the displaced in the governorate and its role in managing and supporting a number of IDPs camps.

For her part, the head of the mission explained that the International Organization for Migration has prepared a development plan for the coming period that includes raising the ceiling of humanitarian interventions in Marib, adopting many humanitarian projects and livelihoods, and supporting the health, education, and water and sanitation sectors, noting that her previous visit enabled her to see the humanitarian situation in Marib, which necessitated a response to the existing humanitarian needs.
