Yemeni-Omani talks in telecommunications held in Zafar

Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Najeeb al-Aweg discussed Sunday with his Omani Counterpart Saeed bin al-Ma'wali cooperation between the two countries in fields of telecommunications and information technology.

The meeting tackled possibility of encouraging partnership between investment, commercial, technological and logistic companies in the two countries and increasing coordination level in international forums and domains of training and qualifying, as well as computer security and making use of Omani expertise in postal affairs.

Possible creation of postal exchange center, facilitations provided to Yemeni investors, easing transportation movements of citizens through the Sultanate of Oman and reorganizing marine goods transportations between the ports of the two countries were also discussed.

Minister al-Aweg confirmed significance of joint meetings between the two parties to contribute in reviving joint treaties signed between the two countries in the past years, pointing out that the meeting resulted in a number of directives to activate and promote investment fields and expected intra-trade, as well as discussing facilitations of procedures in Omani banks to Yemeni investors.

He pointed out to problems facing Yemeni investors and means of solving them and implementing a number of projects by the two parties, which include extending telecommunications cables from Omani Mazyounah city to Shihen area in Mahra province.

For his part, Omani Minister of Telecommunications, Transport and Information Technology pointed out to significance of improving cooperation in field of marine, ground and ariel transportation, transit trade, investment in free zones and improving work in field of telecommunications and information technology.
