Al-Sa'adi discusses with UN official dangers against children in Houthi-held areas

Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Abdullah al-Sa'adi received Saturday UNICEF's Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa Adilah Khadher, praising efforts exerted by the organization in Yemen, especially in field of education and sanitation and providing anti-coronavirus vaccines.

He reviewed efforts of the government for providing protection to children, including support to educational sector to ensure that all male and female children get equal chances to join school.

Al-Sa'adi pointed out to dangers and challenges children witness in Houthi militia's areas, including recruiting tens of thousands of children and training them in what are called summers camps to drag them into their warfronts.

He talked about Taiz's suffocating siege by Houthi militia and reflection of this siege on citizens.

For her part, the UN official praised cooperation between the government and the organization and facilitating implementation of its programs and projects.

He reviewed UNICEF's plans in Yemen and expressed aspirations for continuing cooperation between the organization and the government to overcome current challenges, including the gap of financing humanitarian response plan.
