Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad Al-Ashwal, and his deputy, Salem Al-Wali, discussed with the European Union ambassadors to Yemen in the temporary capital Aden today the efforts to confront difficult economic and humanitarian challenges.

The meeting, with the participation of the Vice-President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, Abu Bakr Baabid, the ambassadors of France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and the Swedish special envoy to Yemen, touched on the latest developments in the commercial sector and the impact of the global crisis as a result of the war in Ukraine on the flow of basic food commodities, especially wheat.

Minister Al-Ashwal referred to the negative effects of this global crisis, and the statistics of international organizations regarding it, which confirm that 17.5 million people, equivalent to 54% of the population, are in dire need of aid, noting the seriousness of this if the situation continues without any interventions to avoid deepening suffering.
