Speaker of Shura Council speaks with British Ambassador about peace prospects

Speaker of Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Obeid bin Dagher conferred today with the British Ambassador Richard Oppenheim over the prospects of peace in view of the ongoing Yemeni-Yemeni consultations in Riyadh sponsored by the GCC.

Bin Dagher stressed that it is very important to get all Yemeni political forces and constituencies united together under the legitimate leadership to put down the Iran-backed coup and prevent the partition of Yemen.

He stated that the continuation of the coup d'état poses threat to Yemen unity.

The Speaker of Shura Council blamed the Houthi militias for its grave violations and crimes against the Yemeni people, besieging the city of Taiz, continuing to the shell the residential areas and freighting the IDPs in Marib governorate. " Houthi militias can't rule Yemen by its sectarian-racist scheme", said bin Dagher.

The British Ambassador confirmed his country's support for Yemen's unity, security and stability.

He reiterated Britain's support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the GCC's member states to unite the Yemeni peoples ranks to counter the coup and make peace.
