ADEN - SABA
Yemen's army has the Iranian-affiliated Houthis had committed "a string of violations" on Sunday, the first day of the UN-brokered truce with the militia in different frontlines and provinces in the country.
The Yemeni Armed Forces' Media Center said in a statement on Sunday it "documented 44 violations the Iranian Houthi militia committed against the army's positions and civilian locations with the use of artillery and machineguns of various caliber; the deployment of massive reinforcements in manpower and combat equipment on different frontlines; and other moves as part of preparations to launch a massive assault."
The statement detailed: "On the Hays front in [western Yemen] Hodeidah, the Iranian militia violated the truce from its first moments by firing on the army's sites with 12.7 caliber machineguns; at 1.50 am, the militia resumed attacking civilian properties in east of Hays with 14.5 caliber machineguns; at 2.25 am, they kept shooting 14.5 caliber machinegun rounds on military positions in the front; and resumed firing on the positions of the Combined Forces in the same Hays front as of 3.50 am."
To the county's southwest, the frontlines "in Taiz saw 24 Houthi breaches of the ceasefire in the eastern, northern and western sides of city and on the frontlines of Maqbana, Ahtoob and Kadaha in the western countryside," the army said.
"The militia used heavy, medium and light weapons and reconnaissance drones to breach the declared ceasefire." It said the militia deployed "more manpower and machine and ammunition reinforcements to the 40-meter road in Taiz, Al-Ahkoom front and the city's western chokepoint near the Ghee and Soap Factory.
The army said the militia also shelled the army's positions in the [northern] Hajjah province continuously.
In the country's east (and northeast), the militia intensified its aggressive actions in Aljawf and Marib deploying huge reinforcements, digging trenches and trying invasion attempts in vain.
"At 6:00 pm, the militia deployed 20 military vehicles toward Al-Ayref front in Aljooba district, south of Marib and launched artillery and machinegun fire on the army's positions," the army said. "At 8:55 pm the army also repelled a ground attack in Almakhdarah frontline to the west of Marib province."
