The British Ambassador to Yemen, Richard Oppenheim, welcomed the initiative of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, which will be launched this week in Riyadh. He called on everyone to participate in good faith and seize the opportunity to address difficult issues in a peaceful and comprehensive manner.
The UK fully supports the efforts of the UN Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg, to consult with a wide range of Yemeni political and social elites on a new comprehensive peace process, he said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
The ambassador said this week marks the end of the seventh year and the beginning of the eighth year of the war in Yemen.
The conflict casts its shadow over ordinary Yemenis more than ever, while the human suffering is unbearable.. That is why I call on all Yemeni parties to make every possible effort to seek for a peaceful solution, there is no way to miss opportunities."
