RIYADH - SABA
Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik called on the friends of Yemen and the government's partners in humanitarian action to place supporting economic stability at the top of their priorities, and the importance of adopting a more sustainable path in employing humanitarian aid, in partnership with state institutions.
The Prime Minister stressed that the humanitarian support provided by donors during the past years represented a window of hope for Yemenis in general, and the funds that were allocated provided life-saving aid in various regions of Yemen, ensuring a minimum level of food security, and preventing the country's slide into a catastrophic famine.
He expressed his aspiration for continuing and increasing this aid, because any reduction in vital support programs will double the pressures and challenges on the Yemeni people.
This came during the Prime Minister's speech today at the high-level event hosted by the United Nations, Sweden and Switzerland to finance the humanitarian response plan for Yemen 2022, with the participation of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the Swiss Confederation, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden.
Dr. Moeen Abdul-Malik explained that the sixth high-level conference on financing humanitarian response plans in Yemen this year comes in extremely complex international circumstances, the repercussions of which have clearly begun to ravage the world, especially in the growth of humanitarian crises around the world, and a critical situation for food security, prices, fuel supplies and transportation globally.
