Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik has confirmed keenness of the government in coordination with Yemen's development partners on finding sustainable solutions to realize food security, including improving planting wheat and expanding its agriculture.
Receiving Assistant Director of the United Nations Development Program Khaledah Bozan on Monday, Prime Minister pointed out to existence of great capabilities in Yemen for expanding wheat agriculture on the light of researches made by General Authority of Agricultural Researches in Hadhramout and the experiments success of its planting in Yemen.
He confirmed government's encouragement and support to these experiments and significance of UN programs' support in this field to help Yemeni people face international economic developments.
The meeting tackled humanitarian, economic and development situations in Yemen and domains of coordination and cooperation between the government and the United Nations, in addition to current preparations to make the Conference of Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen successful.
The meeting also touched upon Safir Oil Tanker issue and necessary pressures to commit Houthi militia give access to the UN technical team to do maintenance work to the tanker and drain it from one million barrel of crude oil.
Prime minister praised UN programs' humanitarian operations, in addition to efforts of the government and donors in field of development.
For her part, the UN official expressed appreciation to government's efforts in dealing with different humanitarian, economic and service challenges, confirming keenness of enhancing promoting partnership and coordination with the government to make the conference on supporting humanitarian response plan in Yemen successful.
She also confirmed UN understanding of the government's suggestions on transferring from humanitarian support to developmental one and support to reforms made by the government.
