Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani met today here with the President of the UN General Assembly Abdullah Shahid.

The session intended to discuss the latest developments in Yemen amid Houthi militias' military escalations, atrocities against civilians and rejection to come to peace.

Al-Barakani detailed Shahid on the extremely tough circumstances Yemen has been enduring as a result of the terrorist Houthi militias' coup d'état and war on the Yemeni people. He cited the militias' atrocities and violations against the Yemeni people including ballistic missiles and drones attacks on civilians and IDPs in Marib and other Yemeni governorates, cross-borders attacks on the civil facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates ,violations of human rights, curtailing liberties of women, freedom of expression, child recruitment, arbitrary arrests, kidnapping and enforced disappearances.

He said " The Yemeni peoples have suffered too much due to these miserable situations, they are no longer able to afford more amid an international silence prompted the militias to go far on their crimes and atrocities."

The Speaker of Parliament confirmed the legitimate Yemeni government to make peace.

" Peace is our option as Yemenis, the legitimate leadership is fully committed to achieve peace, but the militias have rejected all peace proposals", said al-Barakani.

The President of the UN General Assembly demonstrated understanding of the ongoing situations in Yemen and expressed concerns over the exacerbation of the deteriorated situations in Yemen.

He stated that dialogue is the only way that can produce sustainable and fair peace, therefore the efforts must be continued to establish the peace, maintain Yemen's security, stability and unity.
