NEW YORK-SABA
The Republic of Yemen has said " Iran-backed Houthi militias are sticking to warfare option, insisting on destabilizing Yemen and the region, rejecting all peace proposals, blocking all efforts to push peace, by doing so the militias are not only prolonging the conflict but also complicating any peaceful settlement, further exacerbating the humanitarian, political and economic costs".
Speaking at the International Security Council Open Session about the status-quo in the Middle East (Yemen), the Permanent Reprehensive of Yemen Ambassador Abdullah Assa'di said" Peace can't be achieved by good wishes but by political will, we're strongly determined to bring peace for our peoples who are eagerly looking forward to get development, justice, equity and rule of law".
He stated that the Yemeni government has been seriously engaged in the efforts have been made by the UN's special envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg to make peace, meanwhile the Houthi militias have been blocking his good offices, even refusing to receive him in Sana'a.
Assa'di has plainly put blame on the Iranian regime for prolonging the conflict in Yemen.
He said" Houthi militias won't be insisting on fighting, refusing to come to peace unless the Iranian regime's interference in my country's internal affairs, destabilizing security and stability in Yemen and the region, protracting the warfare, worsening the humanitarian crisis by violating the resolutions of the International Security Council's in relevant, supplying the militiamen with weapons, funds and military experts."
