European lawmakers urge blacklisting Houthi militias as terrorist organization

A number of European Parliamentarians stressed that it is important to blacklist Iran-backed Houthi militias as a terrorist organization due to its grave violations against the civilians including the use of the civilians as human shields, stocking weapons in civil facilities.

In a virtual seminar organized by the Center-Right bloc in the European Parliament (EPP Group) the European MPs stated that Iran-allied Houthi militias have used the civilians as human shields, stockpiling weapons in civil facilities such as residential complex, schools, hospitals and Sana'a airport which they turned into a military base.

They noted that they are going to work on and press for designating Houthi militia as a terrorist organization.

The Deputy Speaker of the EU Parliament Pina Picierno stressed that it is very important to support the Yemeni people and civil society organizations in their fighting against the terrorism.

The EU lawmaker Fulvio Martusciello said" Houthi militias are using the civilians as human shields", citing the militias' attacks against the civilians in Marib and Hodieidah governorate and the brutal crimes the militia committed against the African refugees".

The EU Parliamentarian Lusia Regmenti pointed out to the Houthi militias' crimes against women and girls, urging the EU to protect the young girls and support children education.
