Al-Zauri: Houthi obstruction and looting of humanitarian aid worsens situations

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Vice-Chairman of the Higher Relief Committee, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zauri, affirmed that the Houthi militia’s continuation of placing obstacles in the way of the international and local organizations and looting relief aid worsens the humanitarian situation in light of the worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen, according to UN and international reports.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Al-Zauri said, "During the past year, we documented that the Houthi militia committed a large number of violations in the relief field, including storming global food stores in Aslam District, Hajjah Governorate, looting about 120 tons of flour and transferring aid allocated to the "Bani Hassan" IDPs camp in Abs area of the governorate for the benefit of their fighters, and allocating one third of the 16,000 monthly food baskets for the affected families in the Hiran Muharraq area of the governorate.

He added, "The Houthi militia has manipulated the aid lots of about 90,000 families in Al-Jawf Governorate and diverted the aid to the benefit of their fighters, and manipulated about 3,594 beneficiaries who were eligible for aid in Dhamar Governorate and transferred them to militia supervisors, estimated at 440 million riyals.
