Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik affirmed the government's understanding of the legitimate demands of the teaching staff and administrative employees in public universities saying his cabinet is working to find solutions and remedies for them within the comprehensive plans to improve economic conditions and control the decline in the exchange rate of the national currency, which cast a shadow on various aspects of life.
In a meeting in the temporary capital Aden today with the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi, the presidency of the University of Aden, the deans of the faculties and the university's administrative leaders, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the regularity of the educational process to maitain the interests of students, and that any claims will be addressed and dealt with according to legal frameworks.
He pointed to the need to pay attention to the quality of education, standards of academic accreditation, and the development of teaching curricula in universities.
The premier praised the role of the University of Aden and its contribution to graduating cadres and leaders who played a prominent role in the construction process in the country.
The Prime Minister spoke about the academic brain drain in Yemen, and the keenness to develop treatments for its causes and work to limit it. He reviewed the latest developments in the various military, security, economic and service aspects and the efforts made by the government to deal with it, and the importance of concerted efforts in this difficult stage, referring to the economic measures taken to improve the economic situation, combat corruption, and stabilize the money market, and what has been achieved in this aspect, including changing the leadership of the Central Bank of Yemen, and the subsequent steps.
