Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Ahmad Ghaleb discussed Thursday with Vice Ambassador of European Union Mario Lesly and a number of European ambassadors, through videoconferencing, economic and humanitarian situations in the country.

In the meeting, Ghaleb reviewed latest developments in the field of economy and significance of the support provided by the EU to Yemen, expressing hope of increasing this support to enable Yemen overcome difficult situations over Houthi militia's triggered war.

For her part, Lesly and the European ambassadors confirmed technical and financial support to the Republic of Yemen as contribution for improving livelihood of Yemeni people and alleviating negative impacts left by the war.

On the other hand, Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen discussed through visual communication with the President of the International Monetary Fund Mission in Yemen Albert Lainer Rice and the Residential Representative Ghazi Shibikat issues included in the report of the fund on economic situation in Yemen amid deterioration of the price of the Yemeni Riyal and inflation.

The two international officials pointed out to significance of mobilizing resources to reduces the negative impacts of that developments through finding necessary financing to the auction declared by the Central Bank of Yemen for foreign currencies, confirming providing technical support to reforms in the bank and ministry of finance.

For his part, Ghaleb confirmed seriousness of the government for proceeding with reforms as urgent necessity, including reforming public finance, reducing deficit of the budget and financing it by the bank, praising the fund's support to Yemen in different times.
