US: Houthis undermine international efforts to find solution to conflict
[07/12/2021 07:42]

WASHINGTON - SABA
US Department of State has said that Houthi militia are undermining international efforts to find diplomatic solution to the conflict in Yemen.

"The Houthis have demonstrated through their actions on the ground, including their offensive against Marib through their continuing attacks against Saudi Arabia, including attacks that have the potential to inflict grievous harm on civilians in Saudi Arabia that … at the current moment, they are the obstacle to diplomacy," the Spokesperson of US Department of State Ned Price told reporters during Tuesday press briefing.

He confirmed that Houthi militia " are the obstacle to finding a resolution to this conflict."

Our envoy is working closely with his counterpart of the United Nations Hans Grundberg to exert every possible effort to secure ceasefire to tackle the humanitarian and economic priorities to resume political process in Yemen, he added.

He further said that Houthi militia's denounced approach has helped unify the whole world against them and this provides proof to the world that they are, at least currently, not interested in diplomacy and it seems that they are not interested in peace.

Our aim is changing this through working with our Saudi partners and working with the government of Yemen and with other partners to push diplomacy forward, he said.

He pointed out that Yemeni people, who suffers more than others in the first place, have suffered from Houthis through their continuous attacks and not allowing access to humanitarian assistances to other parts of the country, which is still posing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
