NEW YORK - SABA
Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Abdullah al-Sa'adi discussed Thursday with envoys of Ghana, Gabon and Brazil, who are new members of Security Council from January 2022 mutual relations with their countries and latest developments in Yemen.

He confirmed the significant role of the new members, hoping more efforts for tackling Yemen's crisis through increasing pressure on Houthi militia and Iran to resort to peace efforts and abandon military choice.

He pointed out to government's commitment to peaceful solution to end the crisis through political process to be brokered by the UN in accordance with the three internationally agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council's Resolution 2216.

The government of Yemen made many concessions to end the conflict and save Yemeni people's blood and to alleviate humanitarian suffering caused by Houthi militia and welcomed all efforts and initiatives aiming at realizing inclusive and sustainable peace, said al-Sa'adi.

He added that the militia faced all concessions and efforts with continuous military escalation and rejection to calls of ceasefire as the first step to alleviate humanitarian suffering.

For their part, the permanent representatives of Brazil, Ghana and Gabon to the UN expressed support of their countries to government of Yemen and for realizing peace and stability in Yemen through the political process led by the UN.

They stressed swift commitment of ceasefire, de-escalation in Marib and returning to dialogue table, confirming readiness to work with all members of the Security Council to support the council's commitment of Yemen's unity, independence and sovereignty.
