The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology announced its rejection and non-recognition of the unilateral measures taken by MTN, related to the company's suspension of services,
sale of its share to another telecom company, in violation of the legal regulations concluded the government and exit from Yemen.
An official source at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said in a press statement, "We saw news circulating through the media ... on an alleged "MTN"
sale of the company's shares to a company that the government is not aware of.
The source stressed that the ministry will not recognize any party
whom "MTN" agreed or sold its share to in preparation to get out of Yemen, without consulting or
deferring to the legitimate Yemeni government and without taking into account the legal obligations to refer to the ministry in any action taken.
The source pointed out that what MTN had done represents an evading of the payment of legal fees, especially taxes and licensing values for the past period, as well as costs of the services that were provided to it.
