Yemen's Ambassador to Canada Jamal al-Sallal discussed Sunday with the Head of the General Department of Peninsula and Gulf countries in Canadian Foreign Ministry Neil Brenan mutual relations between the two countries and means of promoting them and latest developments in Yemen.
Al-Sallal confirmed keenness of the government of Yemen on ending the war and realizing peace on the bases of the three agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216.
He pointed out to the report of the Security Council Prominent Experts Team's report, which confirmed the destructive role of Iran as partner to Houthi militia in the war against humanity in Yemen, especially in Marib, and failing international efforts aiming at realizing peace and prolonging the war.
He also briefed the Canadian official on the dangerous situation of Safir Oil Tanker, which could lead to the greatest environmental disaster in the Red Sea and nearby areas. He confirmed significance of security of the Red Sea and safety of navigation in Bab al-Mandab strait as the sea and the strait are prime line to international trade and links the east with the west.
For his part, the Canadian official renewed his country's support to UN efforts and continuous support to political solution for ending the war and realizing peace in Yemen.
He also expressed his country's concern of the potential catastrophic results on the Red Sea's environment and damages could result over neglecting the situation of the tanker.
