Deputy governor of Marib governorate Dr. Abd-Rabbu Meftah and the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs David Gressly discussed today the disastrous humanitarian consequences of Houthi militia's unending military operations on Marib governorate.
Meftah provided an informative presentation about the newly Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) who fled their own regions for their lives due to Houthi militia aggressive military attacks and atrocities.
He stated that more than 13 thousand families include some 93 thousand and 387 civilians have been displaced by Houthi militiamen from Marib southern districts during September and October this year.
He added that these new IDPs from the districts of Rahbah, Mahilyah, Hareeb, al-Abdia and al-Gobah are living now in 16 new camps, struggling with heartbreaking humanitarian situations.
Mr. Gressly said in a press conference that his visit to Marib aimed to get first-hand information about the humanitarian situations in Marib in order to report about that to the UN and International Security Council.
He stated that he ordered the UN's agencies in Marib to work out a response emergency plan totaling $10 million to relief and shelter the newly displaced people, in addition to allocating 3 million USD to increase the humanitarian provisions of the UN's organizations operate in Marib.
