Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik received today in the interim capital Aden the American Special Envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking along with the Charged' Affairs of the US embassy in Yemen Kathy Westly.
The session intended to discuss the latest developments about the situations in the Yemeni national arena, government's efforts to manage economic hardships, challenges facing its action, necessary support need to be provided to enable the government doing its job effectively.
The discussions covered a range of topical issues including Houthi militia's military escalation and attacks on Marib, Shabwa and other regions, the deteriorated economic and humanitarian situations, Houthi militia's insistence on fighting, intransigence about Safer Oil Tanker and the Iranian interference in Yemen's internal affairs.
The Prime Minister briefed the American diplomats on the government's plans and efforts aiming to manage the economic challenges, improve exchange rates of national currency, control inflation and to allay the Yemeni peoples suffering.
He underscored the need for American administration support to the government so that it can carry out the urgently need economic and financial reforms , mobilize resources and unify the political constituencies to counter Houthi militia coup.
The American envoy confirmed the USA full support for the government and its efforts to mitigate the economic hardships. He stated that the US administration is keen to mobilize international support to sustain the government's efforts in order to be able to function effectively.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Agriculture and Fishery and Higher Education and Scientific Research were in attendance.
