Yemen participated in the 34th session of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with a delegation headed by the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Humaid.
In his speech at the 34th session of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers, Minister Humaid affirmed that transportation in its various sectors currently occupies a pivotal position in the agenda and concerns of the countries of the world because this vital sector has a direct impact on issues of economic and social development and the advancement of people's welfare.
He reviewed, among other things, the difficulties faced by the transport sector in Yemen and the challenges that resulted from the war waged by the Houthi coup militias seven years ago, and which targeted the infrastructure of the various transport sectors such as land roads, airports and ports, which weakened their ability and efficiency to perform their services as required... praising the efforts of the Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen in various political, military and economic fields since the start of the Decisive Storm in 2015.
The Minister of Transport indicated that the Yemeni government adheres to the option of peace, stopping the war and facing the challenges of the dangerous humanitarian situation and the suffering of the Yemeni people.
He called on donor countries to fulfill their obligations and pledges to support the efforts and program of the Yemeni government in order to achieve stability in living and economic conditions.
