Minister Batheeb says Yemen's national economy lost over $90 billions

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'ed Batheeb stated that Yemen's national economy has incurred losses exceeding $90 billion and national currency value depreciated approximately 180% against foreign currencies as a result of Houthi militia's coup d'état against the legitimate government in 2014.
His remarks came during his contribution today to the discussions of the annual meetings of the World Bank (WB) Group. The deliberations conducted via video conference with a participation by the WB Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti Marina Wes and WB Executive Director Dr. Merza Hassan.
Batheeb provided an informative presentation about the challenges facing Yemen's national economy, crippling hardships the Yemeni peoples have been struggling with, calling for resuming the WB Office's activities in the temporary capital Aden.
