Marib Governor discusses with High Commission's official Houthi crimes in Marib

Governor of Marib General Sultan al-Eradah discussed Thursday with Representative of High Commission for Human Rights in Yemen Rino Marie Dital, who visits Marib currently, latest developments of right and humanitarian situations in the province and crimes committed by Houthi militia against civilians and camps of displaced people.

The meeting tackled means of boosting cooperation between Marib's local authority and the High Commission for Human Rights in field of human rights.

Governor al-Erada reviewed Houthi crimes of continuous shelling of populated areas, camps of displaced people and neighborhoods by ballistic rockets and drones, the recent attack targeted Arrawdha Neighborhood by three ballistic rockets and killed three children and four women and injured others.

The attack also destroyed 12 houses, eight cars and other processions.

The governor pointed out to humanitarian effects left by Houthi militia's siege on al-Abidia District and endangering lives of 35 thousand people, most of them children, women and aged, by continuous shelling by different types of weapons.

He confirmed necessity of UN and international community's roles in denouncing terrorism of Houthi militia, demanding strong and quick action by the international community to protect civilians though exerting pressure on the militia to abide by International Humanitarian Law and opening humanitarian and safe tracks to people of al-Abidiah and providing them with basic and emergency needs to save their lives.

For his part, the UN official thanked the governor for hospitable reception and discussing issues associated with human rights, expressing hope of boosting coordination and drawing joint vision to update human rights capacity building.
