RIYADH-SABA
Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani said" We're ready to achieve peace but Houthi militia has not yet agreed to do so, it has continued to deliberately undermine peace efforts and proposals, going on fighting, these indicators show they have never been willing to make peace".
His statement came as he met today with the US envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking to discuss peace efforts and prospects in Yemen.
Al-Barakani highly praised the American administration's supportive stance in support of the Yemeni people and legitimate government.
He blamed Iran-allied Houthi militia for blocking peace efforts and initiatives, citing the militia's military escalation and attacks on the civilians and civil facilities including Mocha seaport.
He cited the mass-executions of nine innocent people as an example of the militia's grave violations and crimes against the Yemeni people.
The American envoy reiterated his administration's support for establishing peace and reaching a permanent agreement to stop the war and maintain Yemen's unity, security and stability.
He stated that the U.S.A is very keen to help Yemen, cooperate with the UN envoy to make sustainable peace and contribute to the humanitarian actions.
