Yemen's Foreign Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, discussed today in Geneva with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration, António Vitorino, the situation of the escapees from the Houthi militia to liberated areas in Yemen and also the situation of African refugees in Yemen and ways to enhance the efforts of the International Organization for Migration in this regard and mechanisms of cooperation between it and the Yemeni government.
Bin Mubarak said that the number of displaced people to Marib alone reached two million, most of them from areas still under the control of the Houthi militia, to escape repression, abuse, persecution and the policy of starvation practiced by the militia, pointing to the Houthi aggression and bombing of the province with ballistic missiles and drones targeting civilian neighborhoods and refugee camps.
He pointed to the danger of the Houthi recruitment of foreign refugees by to fight in the militia's its ranks, considering that one of the violations that should be added to the militia's criminal record.
Bin Mubarak pointed to the importance of increasing the pace of the organization's activity in the temporary capital, Aden, and the rest of the liberated governorates, to address the conditions of the displaced and African refugees and to meet the needs of the increasing numbers of displaced people fleeing daily from the militia's control areas as a result of the ongoing grave violations against all groups and segments of society.
