Yemen, Swiss FMs discuss relationships and Yemen developments
[13/09/2021 02:17]
GENEVA – SABA
Foreign Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, discussed his Swiss counterpart, Ignacio Cassis, bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, the developments in Yemen, and prospects for a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

In a meeting they held in Geneva, Switzerland, today, bin Mubarak expressed Yemen's appreciation for the efforts made by Switzerland to contribute to alleviating the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the war waged by the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people, and for Switzerland's hosting of three rounds of negotiations between the Yemeni government and the Houthi rebels.

Minister Bin Mubarak reviewed the efforts of the United Nations to bring about peace and end the Houthi coup based on the three agreed references, stressing the Yemeni government’s desire to cooperate constructively with the new UN envoy to Yemen in his mission to search for opportunities for peace in Yemen.

He stressed the need for international pressure on the Houthi rebel militia for their role in thwarting all efforts aimed at achieving peace, and continuing aggression against the Yemeni people and destabilization of the region.

Bin Mubarak touched on the continuous military escalation of the Houthi militia and its recent targeting of the Al-Anad base and the commercial port of Mocha, which caused the death of a number of civilians and members of the armed forces and caused great damage to the vital facilities and facilities of the port.

He also referred to the continuation of the Houthi aggression against the Ma’rib governorate and targeting residential areas and IDPs camps with ballistic missiles and drones, which aggravates the humanitarian catastrophe.
