Al-Barakani participates in Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament,

Parliament Speaker Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani participated today in the opening session of the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Austrian Parliament in cooperation with the United Nations. The two-day event is being held in the Austrian capital Vienna.

The conference discussed the priorities that require urgent international parliamentary action regarding the global response to the coronavirus pandemic and recovery after it, with the participation of parliament speakers from all over the world in the first large-scale meeting since the onset of the pandemic.

In his speech at the conference, Al-Barakani expressed his thanks to the parliamentarians and countries that support Yemen in various fields, foremost of which is the fight against the coronavirus, stressing the importance of holding this important event in light of the difficult circumstances the world is going through.

Al-Barakani said, "It is no secret to anyone that the extent of the social imbalances imposed by the coronavirus pandemic and the new responsibilities that must be taken towards the millions of poor people who face the epidemic in a vulnerable state."
