The Houthi militia have caused the death of 46 Yemeni journalists and displacement of thousands others since the start of the Yemeni conflict in 2015, said member of the board of directors of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate Nabil al-Osaydi.

In a meeting he and several Yemeni human rights activists held with the working team of the rapporteur of the Human Rights Council in Geneva today, al-Osaydi raised the issue of Houthi confiscation of all media premises, TV stations, radio stations, newspapers, websites, public, governmental, partisan and private.

Al-Osaydi stressed the imperative of paying due attention to the Houthi abuses as the HRC's report on freedom expression is prepared.

He cited the stories of many journalists killed in horrific and mysterious ways including by poisoning and journalists sentenced to death at the hands of the terrorist group.
