Minister of Water and Environment Tawfeeq al-Sharjbi discussed Sunday with Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman al-Fadhli means of boosting coordination between the two countries for responding to repercussions of the potential humanitarian and environmental disaster of exploding or sinking Safir Oil Tanker off Hodeida's coasts.
The meeting, which was held through video-conferencing technology, discussed the technical situation of the tanker, which has been swimming on the Red Sea's water for around 40 years, and plans for facing natural disaster in the two countries, as well as preparations for dealing with oil leak, exploding or sinking the tanker over the stop of maintenance work since 2015.
Al-Sharjabi confirmed significance of taking joint positions towards Houthi militia's delay of and its rejection till today to allow to the UN technical team to inspect the tanker and doing maintenance work to it.
For his part, the Saudi minister expressed concern over the situation of the tanker, stressing significance of supporting coordination between the two countries for solving Safir Oil Tanker's issue.
He renewed support of Saudi Arabia to Yemen in facing the potential environmental crisis, hoping realization of security and stability in Yemen.
