NEW YORK
Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the UN Ambassador Abdullah Assa'di held virtual discussions today with the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba.
He detailed Gamba on the violations and malpractices against the Yemeni children by Iran-allied Houthi militiamen in the militia-controlled regions.
He stated that Houthi militia has embarked on recruiting children since it has taken over the capital Sana'a, engaging thousands of children in frontline battles it has been fighting against the Yemeni government's armed forces.
Assa'di cited the Yemeni government's efforts to protect the child rights and curb recruiting the children and rehabilitate the children who suffered armed conflicts.
The conversations touched upon the road map signed on with the Yemeni government in 2018 to get rid of children
recruitment and engagement in the armed conflict.
