US Senators express concern over violating human rights by Houthis
[15/06/2021 07:39]

WASHINGTON - SABA
A number of US Senators expressed their concern towards Houthi militia's systematic and wide-spread violations to human rights.

Senators James Risch, Todd Young, Marco Rubio and Mike Crapo said in a letter they directed to US Permanent Representative to UN Linda Tomas: " for long time, the international community neglected atrocities committed by Houthis."

This weakness of international community's concern has led to escape from punishment culture, which makes Houthi unwilling to negotiate in goodwill, they added, confirming that while Houthis continue their attacks on Marib, we demand from you to direct the international community's attention towards these dangerous and continuous violations of human rights.

The letter added that it is very important to focus attention towards Houthi practices for banning any expansion in their held areas as a real situation as this hinders peace horizons in Yemen.

" A number of human rights groups, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have documented gradual expansion of Houthi barbaric and theocratic approach for power," the letter said.

Houthis improved repressive intelligence apparatus like Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard operating away from the state's control and provides its reports directly to the leader of the group Abdulmalik al-Houthi, they said in the letter.

We hope banning potential humanitarian crisis in this governmental stronghold of strategic importance and we demand from you to use your vote to vote in the Security Council to include Houthis' violations to human rights in meetings, releases and resolutions associated with Yemeni conflict, the senators concluded their letter.
